there should really be a guideline and minimum for stick assaults.

I totally understand that it's gonna be a pain when it comes to crosschecks as they are a grey area. I get it.

Still, blatant things like this, spearing, or swinging your stick in any matter has gotta have a few games tied to it minimum. Maybe add crosschecks to the head as a mandatory sit down as well.

It's a gutless play by a guy who's been given too many chances now.

Quenneville grabs own balls : 25000$
Lucic tries to castrate opponent : 5000$

Makes perfect sense...

Lucic is so gutless, (frank)ing makes me puke what he gets away with.

(frank)ing guy loves roughing up the none fighters - I think somebody in Boston is good at giving head for him not to get suspended.

I totally understand why you feel that way. Megna has taken Mason out for the playoffs, and I wanted vengeance when it occurred, too. Different animal, I know. Megna's play was just a little dirty while Lucic's was a flat out assault. Still, I get why you want revenge.

However, we're trying to move past players doling out illegal retribution. Having Bert hand out justice only perpetuates the problem we're having in hockey. The league has to get their act together. It's on THEM.

The guidelines for proper punishment were pretty much laid out by BF Skinner and others. There are a few variations, but they all agree on this.

1) Punishment should be given immediately after the infraction, and if possible while caught in the act.
- anyone that has trained a dog is familiar with this one

2) The punishment should be just enough to get the point across so that they know you mean business.
-This doesn't mean get off lightly. It just means you have to keep them from fearing/hating/resenting you.
-In this list, this one applies the least to the scenario

and finally the one the NHL doesn't get -

3) The punishment should be constant as infractions are committed. If you punish hard here, and ignore in other instances, it WILL NOT SINK IN. Every time. Everyone. No exceptions.
-This means all players should be treated equally for goonish actions. If you are a repeat offender, yeah, the punishment can be elevated, but no letting first-timers off regardless if they are 4th liners or 1st liners.

It's seen by us all that there are a few players that will take cheap shots and nothing is done. Then when they finally come down on them, they are considered first-time offenders when in fact THIS IS NOT THE CASE. They've been problems for awhile. A slap on the wrist is a joke. There are a lot of people that seem to get away with things and it makes the game needlessly dangerous. I'm not speaking against legal, bone-crushing hits. Have at it! I'm against stick infractions like this, as well as others that involve hits to the head and/or dangerously propelling players into the boards head first resulting in injury. That has no room in the sport.

Sometimes scary checks that result in concussions/injuries happen, but others can be avoided. He coulda puled up. We can all rattle off instances.

The league needs consistency. That's all. It would make so many fans happy.

By the way, a gold star to whoever read that whole crap rant.

That was deliberate, dirty, could easy have cause an injury, uncalled for no matter what happened before, and was done by a repeat offender. $5, that is unbelievable even in the laughing - stock of all sports ...The NHL. This league has their heads up their asses.

This, like 1000000000x this. Grab your crotch as a gesture and its $25,000 or hit someone in the crotch with your stick maliciously from behind and its $5,000...? Where does the logic come from?

I still will never understand the punishments given to plays like this. Look back to playoffs when Shea Webber nailed Zetterberg head into board (fined), James Neal leaping like a bunny with two incidents (1 game), and then Giroux mispunished for a debatable call (1 game). And then even this year the last game of season hartnell is fined for retaliating at three hurricane players slashing him. Not punishing Lucic the proper way is the reason why there are these gutless plays because the players know that it will be a chump change fine and still suit for the next game. Unbelievable.
